C4. Date & Time Settings

Reading Time: < 1 minute - Video Time: 2:20

1. Introduction

In this chapter we will cover:

  • Details on the date and time of your flow meter.
  • The ways to change it.

Adjusting is done via:

1. Manually via the Transmitter / display
2. Via the VPStudio software.

2. Date & Time overview

It is important to set the date and time correctly especially when you have the optional data logger: these settings are copied to the data log files.

Find the date & time:

  • VPFlowScope DP, VPFlowScope In-line and VPFlowScope Probe: only in VPStudio.
  • VPFlowScope M: via VPStudio

Date and time in VPStudio in your project file:

VPStudio 2 Date and time in recorded data

Data and time in csv.file:

2.1 Format

  • Date: DD-MM-YYYY. (date – month – year)
  • Time: HH: MM: SS. (hours: minutes: seconds)

2.2 Supercapacitor

In case of no external power, date & time settings will be powered by a supercapacitor.

The lifetime of the capacitor: approx. 1 week.

Once the capacitor is empty: date and time will reset to factory default (01-01-2010).

3. Adjusting manually via the Transmitter/display

The options can be found at:
Menu >> Settings >> Date/Time.

Use the up and down keys to navigate through all options. The highlighted line is the selected line that you can adjust. Use Enter to go to the next line and Enter to save your setting.

4. Adjusting via VP Studio software

VPStudio 2 connection device

Connecting your flow meter with VPStudio will directly synchronize date & time with the date & time of your computer. Just establishing a connection between the two is sufficient. (See chapter C1.2).

A connection is confirmed when under “Devices” your COM port number appears: If this is not the case see chapter C1.2.2.3.

5. Next Step

Set up your communication via your preferred communication protocol:

C5. RS485 (Modbus RTU) Settings
C6. Analog Settings
C7. Ethernet Settings
